Purpose of the IEEE Student Paper Contest

The main purpose of this contest is to familiarize University of Waterloo students with the writing and presentation aspects of design and research through a well recognized competitive environment. In this contest, all contestants must be a member of IEEE. Subscription to IEEE student membership cost $30 a year and can be done at ieee.org.

The 2010 IEEE Student Paper Competition for the Kitchener-Waterloo Chapter will be hosted by Conestoga College and will be a competition between groups from the University of Waterloo, Conestoga College, and the University of Guelph. The top 3 winners of the chapter competition will receive a cash prize and will advance to the regional competition, which Waterloo is located in Region 7 (Canada).

Each university can only send 3 groups to a contest, so the winners of the internal competition will advance and compete in the chapter's contest. There is a very good chance that a well prepared group presenting something substantial such as their design project will win and advance to the regional round.
